A dildo is a non-vibrating insertable used for vaginal or anal penetration, by hand or worn in a harness. Silicone, glass and steel are the common body-safe materials; silicone is soft and grippy, glass and steel are rigid and hold temperature. Shapes run from realistic to abstract, and size is far less important than base design — anything used anally needs a flared base. It is among the oldest known sex toys, with carved examples tens of thousands of years old.
